May 2022 Newletter
Hello and Happy New Year Seabees
We are well into 2022 and I apologize for being late with this newsletter. We have been busy with holidays visitors, and just life in general. We hope all of you and yours had a wonderful holiday.
We would like to thank everyone for making Gulfport another successful reunion a good time was had by all. Paul and Melva Johnson put together another great reunion, and it all went off without a snag. The memorial was very nice and appreciated by all that attended. Next year Peter said he would play the bugle for taps. Thank you to the hospitality crew everyone enjoyed themselves again. The raffle was a success, and the mystery auction was a lot of fun. Thanks to all that made it a hit.
We attended the all Seabee reunion in Pidgin Forge and had a good time. We have been in Tennessee for ten years now and have not spent much time there. There are so many things to do there I can’t begin to name them all. The hotel was very nice , and the rooms were good sized with a balcony. The roads through the Smokies are well kept with spectacular views. These roads will take to The casinos and Biltmore estates.
The dates for the reunion will be October 23 to the More 27. The rooms are $55 plus tax’s per night . Total cost for those nights is $246.96 with tax. I just talked to Ray Mc Peek who’s the head of NSVA’s side of this year’s reunion. The hotel we will be the Grand Smokies Resort Lodge in Pigeon Forge. There web site is www Smokies Lodge .com if you would like to check it out. Mc Ghee Tyson airport Knoxville Tn is about an hour away from the hotel. More information to follow when available.
Pete’s son-in-law Andrew is in the process of reworking the mcb1-mcb9.org web site. This will make it a lot easier to use for dummies like me I hope. Andrew is planning on coming to the reunion this year to go over the new improvements he is making. We would like to thank Frank for his work on the site till now.
